even though we're from south, we normally park at the north parking area when we go to mall of asia. it has been a habit to go down at the 2nd flr direct to the cyber zone where my b is always in search for new business or personal gadgets.

also at 2nd flr, there's this japanese restaurant whose sushi plates rolling in a conveyor belt seem to attract not only my curiosity but of my family's as well. so on the day after my bday, it was time for a post bday celebration at this resto we've been eyeing for so long.

at first look once we were seated, the place was quite impressive. on the corner of our couch table, there were 2 boxes containing chopsticks, a small soy sauce for the sushi and a hot water outlet which i'm guessing will be used for tea refills. there was also a computer mouse partnered with samsung lcd monitors placed beside each table to serve as an interactive menu. however, both the hot water and interactive menu are not working. tsk, a good concept gone to waste.

as the dinner progressed, we realized that the restaurant's flaws did not only end in their unique but non-implemented interactive menu, it extended to their food, service and pricing as well.

some reasons why we think so:

1. there was a little soy sauce left on our table so we asked for more. they gave us another bottle with very little amount. isn't it common sense to give a bottle that is enough for 6 people? thankfully, when we asked for another one they gave us a full bottle.

2. our food arrived first before the plates did.

3. the sushi's on the conveyor belt aren't appetizing to eat. no wonder no one ever gets them.

4. mom, dad and i didn't order drinks coz we prefer the house tea. instead of giving us a teapot on our table, our 3 tiny tea cups were constantly asked for refill.

5. their food is NOT delicious at all. the sushi's don't seem fresh. low-quality mediocre food with a hefty price tag, that's all i can say.

6. the waitresses are not warm enough to make you enjoy your stay at least. i haven't seen a single smile in that resto. seems like the staff is not happy with their job.

i dunno if we've just been there at the wrong time. i'm actually very easy to please when it comes to food. and even if the food doesn't taste that well, there's still room for the servers to make up for it and make your meal at least pleasurable. this one just didn't make it because it failed in both aspects.

i will never go back to sakae sushi again. ever.

thanks for sharing this, my husband loves sushi, so we won't go there when we go back to PI, some stores really don't have a good customer service :)

i didnt know they have a branch here in manila. first time i got to try this was when i went to kl malaysia last summer.they had nice ambiance and the food was really good and appetizing. i was a bit surprised about your experience in the restaurant. they should really do something about their interactive menu and water outlet.because these are what makes them interesting. its just disappointing though. they just lost another customer..
