i really had a hard time looking for the perfect place to stay at boracay. b and i both hate crowded places so it was a mutual decision to stay at station 1 where, people say, is the most peaceful, cleanest and finest part of the beach. non-beachfront resorts are also out of the list because we wanted to be able to hop to the beach in mere seconds.

after about 50 inquiries and email subscriptions, the choice was down between seawind and sur. but because b originally wanted a resort with a swimming pool facility, i immediately called seawind for reservation. it was such a good thing that the staff in seawind gave me an option date to confirm or else i would have paid the full amount that very same day i inquired. i say it was a good thing because when i showed sur's websites to my b, he fell in love with the place the same way i did. aside from the homey ambiance of sur, it's much cheaper than seawind. so sur it is!

this is the very same room that we were in. it is exactly the way it is in the photo when we arrived plus a friendly reminder to keep the linens clean and 2 breakfast order sheets laid out on the bed. the whole room is impeccably spotless, i love it!

the view from the window and balcony, however, were not a sight to behold. but we're there for the beach, not the room's view. :D

the beach is calling me

i forgot to take photos of the room simply because i was really eager to jump to the beach and feel the powdery sand on my feet. but we were famished after more than 4 hours of travel so we ordered lunch first. their menus are made to order so the serving took more or less 15 minutes which is just ok. but for me, who's willing to skip lunch just to lounge on the beach, it felt like the longest 15 minutes ever.

spaghetti bolognese
our first bora lunch

their menu is only composed of sandwiches, pasta and breakfast. it's understandable really coz i think visitors, like us, would most likely prefer to try the different restos offered by boracay. their meals are usually good for 2 persons but just like the spag and sandwich we ordered, don't expect it to be super delicious.

tocino beef tapa
filipino breakfast

daily breakfast is included in the room rates and was a choice of american, english, continental or filipino. personally, i think the filipino breakfast is the most sulit one with rice, viand (can be tapa, tocino, corned beef or fried bangus), egg, and fruit.

after having a very satisfying breakfast meal, we found our room well tidied up almost just like the way we first arrived. kudos to the housekeeping!

freshly lined sand

the beachfront is also well kept. we found one of the staff raking off dirt on the beach as well as the sand itself. i don't know what's the purpose of lining the sand but it sure is good to look at. it gives the impression that the place is very well maintained.

there was actually construction going on at the back portion of the resort but it did not in any way ruin our stay. no shirtless manong or pounding sound whatsoever.

and finally, i can never forget the warm and friendly people who made our stay memorable. from the time we booked our reservation til the day we left, we felt we were extremely taken care of. even the manongs and manangs offering beach activities and massages outside the resort are very kind.

sur = home away from home

we love everything about sur and we highly recommend it for those who want to have a truly relaxing experience in boracay. we'll surely stay there again the next time we go back.

hehe..the place is really nice talga and yes, it's kid friendly. we were there for 3 days. :)

there's this one resort where our travel mates stayed. they said it's also nice and it has a pool. rates aren't that bad either. maybe your kids can enjoy more if there's a pool? it's in station 2 daw where nightlife is and where most of the expats hangout. but if you plan to go there on lean season, there aren't that many people so siguro ok na din.

you can check their website at www.lacarmeladeboracay.com and sur's at www.surboracay.com. have fun! let me know when you're going oki. :)
