kahlua1 kahlua2

i was finally able to gorge on that chocolate cake i badly wanted, thanks to chocolat in mall of asia. after much thought on what chocolate flavor to pick from kahlua, deep dark chocolate, bailey's cream, and death by tableas, i picked kahlua even though the staff told us that it actually has kahlua, the alcohol.

kahlua is just the way i've dreamt of my cake - moist bread with fudge icing. the chocolate chips topping is just a plus. i'm not familiar with the liqueur associated with it but i kind of expected it to have a tinge of alcohol smell. thankfully it doesn't. it has just the right amount of sweetness unlike the 2 cakes i've had from them before. i love it!

actually, my first encounter with chocolat was not good. since b and i were both south beach fanatics back then, we ordered their sugarfree chocolate mousse which tastes so bad we vowed never to step in that place again. a few months passed and they started to display their cakes in chillers placed beside the door. being the chocoholic that i am, i can't resist drooling over their cakes everytime we pass by. one time i can't help it, i broke my vow and had their choco hazelnut. this time it was too sweet that b and i only finished half of it. still, i wasn't convinced that their shop was any good.

one time we were touring b's cousin from bicol to the largest mall in the country, we wanted to treat him to some coffee and dessert. we picked chocolat only because it was in the north wing where we were parked. i ordered choco caramel and i was speechless at first bite. from that time on, i know that this shop will satisfy the chocolate cake cravings i usually have.

Chocolat is probably one of the best places to go to for dessert. with affordable prices that range from 43 to 55 pesos per slice of cake, it's not surprising that this shop has already quite a following. it is best to be there during weekdays when you can have the place all to yourself. go there on weekends and you'll witness an actual chocoholics anonymous session. hi, i'm beevee and i'm a chocoholic. =)
