ah, valentine's day..
for the 7 years that we've been together, i can't remember the last time B and i celebrated heart's day or if we even celebrated it at all. we never did intend on joining couples and couples-to-be in proclaiming their love for each other by having a date or by doing romantic stuff for this so-called day of love. it's completely fine with me coz valentine or no valentine, everyday is a love day for us.
this day, however, we found ourselves in the midst of all those valentine brouhaha when we decided to have brunch at a mall after a quick client visit. it was awkward hearing them restaurant crews greeting us a happy valentine. thankfully, it's just 1030 am and only a few people were around. even then, i wanted to run away, go home, and just rummage the office kitchen for anything edible whether it's satisfying or not. but that craving for a scrumptious american dish won over my aversion for this pseudo-holiday when i saw the menu photos of Gumbo Taste of New Orleans in mall of asia.
the weather was perfect for dining by the bay. the moderate sunshine, gentle breeze, bayside view and a crowd-less ambiance made it a romantic brunch moment for us.
we've actually dined here a few months ago and didn't like the food. judging from our fairly satisfied palates this time, i'd say it was worth the 2nd chance.
here's a rundown of our orders so you'll have an idea on what to expect if ever you decide to try out the place. i'm not a food critic, just someone who enjoys food so much. the food names and a few comments will do.
beautiful bayside view
salad and complementary bread. i don't like their bread and garlic oil.
bourbon style ribs
mississippi mud pie. it doesn't come close to friday's mocha mud pie.
i love their all-meat pizza. has very similar taste with yellow cab which is for me the best american pizza available locally.
