'twas the last day of 2008. just like the year before that, b and i went on an early morning trip to mall of asia to make last minute bills payments and purchases for the year. it's my fave time to go to the mall during the christmas season because almost everyone is busy preparing for new year's eve. traffic is a breeze and the mall is almost deserted. i think it's starting to be our habit. well let's just see by the end of this year.

breakfast was spent at kopi roti and we had kaya toast, soft boiled eggs and 2 cups of tea with milk.

soft boiled eggs are one of my fave comfort food when i was little and i haven't come across a resto that serves one except for kopi roti. they serve 2 soft boiled eggs with soy sauce and pepper in a small plate. a spoonteaspoonful of it brings back childhood memories although it's still best eaten by breaking off the top of the shell, put a pinch of salt inside, slurp away the egg, continue the process until a spoon can fit inside the shell. yumyum. now i'm craving for soft boiled eggs.

i've raved about their kaya toast before and i like it til now. only, i hope they would be more generous with the kaya jam. maybe next time i'll ask for more.

there seem to be a mistake with our tea, though. i'm not a first timer at kopi roti so i know what their tea looks like and it has a lighter brown color, not dark. when i asked the wait staff, he told me it's tea. he looks like he's having a bad day and i don't wanna ruin mine because of him so i just let it pass.

it was a good year-ender breakfast. i've read that they open at 7am so i hope this happens again soon.

I also love having soft-boiled eggs since i was a child. Upon my egg hunt, I discovered that other than Kopi Roti, there's a shop that serves not only coffee, tea, soft-boiled eggs (our fave!) but a variety of kaya toasts (w/generous serving of kaya jam).

btw, they also sell Kaya Jam bottles for your home to enjoy.

Cheers!
