i know i've been neglecting this blog lately that i use tags and friday's feast to compensate for the lack of posts. but now that there's no feast for the week, it's quite timely that i have a huge and scary story to tell.

have you heard the news of a waray-waray gang killed in a shootout at cartimar yesterday? b and i were there at the scene and here i am going the recount the story as i have witnessed it.

b and i just got out of the car and walking a few seconds going to the saltwater fish vendors when he noticed that a green adventure car entered a one way street. my attention, on the other hand, was grabbed by the dogs that suddenly became agitated and barking all at the same time. from then on, i knew that something bad was going to happen. when i looked at the other side of the street, i saw people retreating and then i heard men shouting so i told b to just go back to the car and leave the area. while nervously waiting for him to open the door, gunshots started firing continously so we just ran to the shop whose metal accordion grate was being closed down by the people taking cover in them. good thing the men were kind enough to let us in. while hiding inside, we're still hearing gunshots and the little girl who was hiding there with us fainted. terrible things went through my mind and i thought that i'll never see my family again. when the firing ceased, i'm still scared as hell to go outside. the men asked us to go to the 2nd floor to have a view of what was happening. i saw armed policemen running to the scene and thanked God that they were there quick because at that time, i had no idea that an operation was planned all along. when we felt that it's safe to go out, b and i, still shocked from the incident, immediately left the premises and went to moa to calm our nerves down.

not knowing the real story yet, we both thought that it's just a case of some a$$hole taking the one way street and when the guards didn't let him thru, pulled out a gun and fired shots at the people around him. all i can ever think about the whole time is if there were innocent people shot especially those very kind and helpful ones who were always there to assist us whenever we go to that place.

b and i are just super duper thankful that we left the place unscathed. those gunshots were still echoing in my mind last night that i've dreamt of being in another shootout incident. but at least now that i've read the news, the story's clear to me and my mind can now rest.
