i thought i've blogged about jatujak before. but when i searched it here, there's not a single post about it. i guess i always fail to do it because of the mixed emotions i feel about this resto.

i've only known of a few thai restos. in fact, jatujak in mall of asia is the first one i've tried. actually, the only thai resto i've tried coz i'm craving for other stuff whenever we go a mall that has a resto that serves the cuisine. as i said, i have mixed emotions on jatujak because the food is actually great but their staff lack the manners of proper customer service. there's always a bitter experience everytime i go there.

cases in point..

1st case: they just opened a few weeks before on the first time b and i ate there. i already noticed that the crews are not that warm to the guests and the lady manager was quite arrogant.

2nd case: i ordered tako (tapioca wrapped in pandan leaves) for dessert and when it's time to serve them, the service crew told me that they cannot serve me the tako because it's already spoiled and the manager doesn't want to get it out of the kitchen. naturally, i ordered another dessert and i actually told them it's ok, at least they've been honest. a few minutes later, the table in front of us was served what appears to be a tako which i think is supposedly for me. i can see the awkward expression on the crew's face, a clear indication that he lied to me. i looked at the old guy eating and he was like an owner of a business or someone with high position in a company. blood rushed to my veins because i was the first one to order the tako and i felt cheated and discriminated. i would even accept the fact that they run out of tako, but to tell me that it's spoiled so that they can serve it to other customers? such a shame on them!

3rd case: i suggested that my family eat there one time coz they haven't tried it yet. the only available table for us is outside the resto along the hall. the crew keeps on telling us that the inside is full and that most of the customers just started their meal. the thing is, it was summertime and it feels really humid so we prefer to have a table inside the airconditioned room. i spotted a table that can fit 6 people and suggested it to the crew. he told us in a rude tone that we can't use that table coz it's where the orders come out. that was disaster. my dad's patience on that crew ran out so he put down the menu on top of the table and we left. two things: first, the crew should've been polite, as what they all should be. second, he should've been warm enough to tell us that there's no available table but as soon as there is, we can move and that's the time he will serve our order. such a disrespectful a**hole.

since i have a history of bad experiences in this resto, i took note of all their actions when we had lunch there today.

4th case: b and i wanted to have the couch table where we can sit beside each other. the crew impolitely told us that it was reserved. so ok, we got the smaller table.

5th case: our orders arrived without the crew saying a word.

6th case: when the crew was cleaning up our table, a piece of pepper fell down from the plate and almost landed down on my b's sleek polo. crew didn't even apologize for it.

yes, a crew did say "thank you" when we left, but saying it in a robotic way totally ruins the thought that they are truly thankful to us for giving them business.

they say that whatever the boss's attitude is like, their staff gets the same traits. and i agree with that. and i think it's what happened to jatujak. and i hate saying this but i really don't like that lady manager (short hair and a bit chubby) from the start. i'm glad i didn't see her when we had lunch today coz that will make the experience more horrible. she's probably the reason why the service crew is like that, cold, unfriendly, impolite and liar. if not for the good food and thai iced tea, this resto would probably be closed because of her.
