i first learned about taco bell during my college days when one of our case studies in a management subject is about the success of the company and i remember hearing one classmate comment that taco bell is really good. being a semi-adventurous food lover who wants to try out anything new, imagine my excitement when i saw the "taco bell soon to open" banner in one of the malls here. b and i were probably the first ones to try out the place and it was one of the biggest disappointments i had in food. i swear i make better tacos and nachos than theirs. i wonder what's all the hype about it?

just this week i decided to give taco bell another try, this time ordering their burrito.

i am aware that a burrito is usually filled with just meat and possibly salsa but i didn't expect it to taste like liver spread wrapped in tortilla. don't get the impression that i don't like liver spread. i do like reno liver spread for my bread but this taco bell recipe just didn't work for me. i almost didn't wanna taste another burrito ever again but my b convinced me that there's this miggy's burrito that he really loved from his younger years.

miggy's good thing we found a miggy's stall in bf resort in which we decided to have for dinner a few hours ago. b ordered their super burrito which is filled with beef, rice and cheese drizzled with garlic mayo and hot sauce. since i despise onions, we asked the server not to mix the salsa in the burrito.

although i somehow had a difficulty separating the onions from the salsa, the first bite took me away. the super burrito is a burst of flavor with the taste of beef almost empowering the rest of the filling.

the meat is very similar to that of a shawarma. in fact, if not for the rice, i would definitely call it a shawarma sans the cabbage and cucumber. so yeah, it's good. really good. it surely made the mark of the burrito i had in mind. so much so that we'll be going back tomorrow bringing with me my own salsa w/out onions for the filling.

so, taco bell or miggy's? fastfood joint in a mall or mini eatery in the street? special or plain packaging? liver spread or real burrito? for me, miggy's is definitely it!
