when i saw puerto del sol's billboard ad in alabang a couple of years ago, i've been dreaming of going there since then. i visited the website posted in the ad and it's a bright summery page with lots of gorgeous photos enticing me to go there at that instant. after 3 summers past that i was convincing people to take that road trip to pangasinan, that dream finally became a reality 3 weeks ago.

the following is a photo essay of our puerto del sol experience...

entrance to the resort

i forgot all about manila once i entered the resort. the place is just soooo nice. with the lush gardens, well maintained surrounding, elegant facilities, very friendly and accommodating staff, there's no doubt that we'll have a wonderful stay. i really have this fondness for grass so the green manicured grass alone is enough to make me dance with such glee. finally finally, i've step foot in one of my top resorts to visit in the country.

grass, grass, and more grass

since summer's just starting and the fact that it was a friday, we almost had the resort to ourselves. and i love it...most specially the staff's undivided attention. there's nothing i want more than peace and quiet in a resort. where i can make use of cabanas and other facilities without waiting for anyone to finish using it. where i can swim at the pool to my heart's content without worrying if there's urine in the water. where i can laugh, dance and get crazy without getting curious stares from others.

the mansion villa at dawn

mom and dad stayed at the poolside mansion cluster. from the outside, the rooms were beautifully designed but the interiors were really simple consisting only of 2 beds, a tv and a small bathroom.

towels in our room

our beachfront casita was waaay better than the mansion. it has a hall outside with a huge wooden table and chairs. inside is a foyer also with wooden furnitures, a tv, and ref plus 3 doors that lead to the cozy rooms and the spacious bathroom.

cabana

the main entrance to the casita is a sliding glass door supposedly for a great view of the beach from inside the foyer. but sadly, all you can see outside is a cabana and a wall. it was evident that the wall separating the casitas from the beach was put up at a later time. probably due to the tsunami that happened a few years ago, the resort added the wall for safety measures.

shell on the sand

we stayed on the beach the whole afternoon. it has fine white sand but not powdery like boracay.

shoreline

puerto del sol has a clean beachfront, probably the cleanest among the other resorts.

seaweeds on the water

the clear water is just about 3 feet high but you really can't stay there for long unless it's ok for you to step on seaweeds that are scattered around the seabed.

floating cabanas

there are 2 floating cabanas by the beach. perfect for just lounging afloat the sea, playing card games...

breakwater

...or just watching the waves as it hit the breakwater a few meters away.

magical pool

their pool is another story. i know it's just a pool, but there's something about the way it was designed or its gorgeous surrounding elements that gives it a magical appeal.

fishies

there are also these fishies by the kiddie pool that add more whimsical touch to the swimming experience.

hallway at night

the place is also lovely at night. the lights are perfectly placed in areas where they can complete the charming ambiance.

low tide

the next morning, it was super low tide that the seaweeds and coral stones are visibly exposed.

lots of corals on the beach

when we took a stroll on the shore, there was an area near punta riviera where the beach is more worse, i don't think it's suitable for swimming.

family hunting for hermit crabs

breakfast and lunch were served on the beach where you can pick hermit crabs while waiting for the food.

sadly, time has come for us to bid goodbye to that lovely place. while we'd love to extend our stay for another day, it would be very inconsiderate for my brother who will be driving 6 hours or more to the real life that is manila. but i must say, we truly enjoyed our stay at the resort. it's a thumb's up!
