it has been a long time that b and i haven't step foot at the malls here in alabang area. traffic within alabang-zapote road is just too heavy to bear on our busy busy schedules so we always end up going to moa where the drive to coastal road is always a breeze. when we were canvassing for new office supplies a few weeks ago, we decided to check out the area for better buys and we ended up buying most of our stuff at festival mall.
we didn't only accomplish our goals of purchasing office supplies at lower rates but the trip to that particular mall started an addiction to this crispety crunchy treat from the funnel cake factory.
lovely isn't it? read on to know more of this funnel cake love.
the main ingredient for funnel cake is basically just that of a pancake. what makes it different is the process of how it's cooked. the pancake batter is poured through a funnel in a swirling pattern and goes out to a deep pan filled with oil. yes, it's deep fried. it's then served with your choice of toppings like cinnamon, frosted sugar, choco syrup, candy sprinkles and more.
the one in the first pic is our favorite, mango graham, their best seller. it's topped with graham crumbs, chocolate syrup, powdered sugar, mango bits & whipped cream. a scoop of ice cream is optional but it's really better with it. 2 scoops, muuuuch much better. the funnel cakes are freshly made as you order but it isn't really piping hot when served. i love the play of the crunchy soft (contradicting textures i know but you'll know when u try it) warm cake, the coolness of the ice cream, the chocolatey syrup and the fruity element of mango in one bite. i don't really get to taste the graham crumbs at all but it's still a perfect combo nonetheless.
i do have to warn you though. the fact that it's deep fried and topped with a whole lot of sweet stuff, it's laden with bad for the health fat and sugar components which makes it a real guilty treat.
